Mid Week Medals

June 15, 2010 11:44 by doug

The next Mid Week Medal is on Wednesday 16th June on the Burnside.

To avoid detours, it is not necessary to go to the Hotel and sign-in before play as long as your card is clearly marked with the competition name and you let your playing partner(s) know you are entering.

However, when you return your card to the medal box, please ensure that you then enter your name on the competition sheet so that the Match Secreatry can cross-reference cards with entries.  Retrospective payment of sweep fees is a matter of conscience, or you can give your partner a pound on the 1st tee!

Members who wish to play in a competition should:

arrange a time in the ballot,

put their sweep money in the medal box in an envelope marked with their name,

return their signed cards - whether complete or not - to the medal box.

Dalhousie Golf Club Secretary Retires

February 25, 2010 21:46 by arthur

THANKS JOHN

John Lindquist, a distinguished past captain of the Dalhousie Golf Club, and our devoted and meticulous secretary for the past ten years, has decided to retire.

At the club's February general meeting, present captain Graeme Paton paid tribute to John's great service to the club.

Other past captains acknowledged the vital support and guidance John has given them. Graeme presented to John a glass bowl engraved with a picture of the old Dalhousie clubhouse. John is particularly noted for the military precision with which he has organised and orchestrated the club's annual dinners for so many years - but his army experience and attention to detail have been evident in every aspect of his work for the club. He is rightly proud (or at least WAS rightly proud) of the fact that Tiger Woods' father asked him (John) for his autograph when he was using the club facilities during one of the Scottish Opens. It is hoped that John will continue his efforts to keep everyone in order on the first tee on Saturday mornings, and also to keep the hotel staff on their toes.   The good burghers of Carnoustie certainly have to keep their wits about them as the Galloping Major charges along the High Street on his super de luxe streamlined buggie. All members of the club will wish to thank John for all he has done and pass on their kindest regards to him and his wife.

The club is very fortunate that Walter Ruark has agreed to take over the duties of secretary.

Dalhousie Newsletter

September 15, 2008 12:35 by donald
With some embarrassment, the editor apologises for the continued absence of edition number five and, sadly, only has one excuse available this time ( as opposed to the five offered in the previous apology!) Having lost his part-time secretary, it has proved very difficult ( especially when only the forefinger of the right hand is used on the computer ) to do everything demanded within a one-man business and still find time to execute those voluntary tasks promised to all and sundry when paid secretarial assistance was immediately accessible......for example ensuring that a quarterly newsletter for Dalhousie would be produced.
Hopefully the presence of the website has, to some extent, made up for the lack of attention to this vital aspect of the Club's reporting procedures to members. The hope remains that the written word WILL re-appear in the not too distant future.
Nevertheless, for those who have not read edition number four from 2007, please click the link below to download it.  Normal service will resume as soon as possible!
