Barry Burn, Carnoustie

While the Barry Burn has gained its notoriety from the many victims who have fallen foul of it over hundreds of years on the golf course, its original purpose was industrial, rather than recreational. A busy linen industry drew water from it to assist production while, a mile or so to the north, its current drove the huge waterwheel at Barry Mill, where flour was made. The mill is now fully restored.
