Dalhousie Golf Club Secretary Retires

THANKS JOHN

John Lindquist, a distinguished past captain of the Dalhousie Golf Club, and our devoted and meticulous secretary for the past ten years, has decided to retire.

At the club's February general meeting, present captain Graeme Paton paid tribute to John's great service to the club.

Other past captains acknowledged the vital support and guidance John has given them. Graeme presented to John a glass bowl engraved with a picture of the old Dalhousie clubhouse. John is particularly noted for the military precision with which he has organised and orchestrated the club's annual dinners for so many years - but his army experience and attention to detail have been evident in every aspect of his work for the club. He is rightly proud (or at least WAS rightly proud) of the fact that Tiger Woods' father asked him (John) for his autograph when he was using the club facilities during one of the Scottish Opens. It is hoped that John will continue his efforts to keep everyone in order on the first tee on Saturday mornings, and also to keep the hotel staff on their toes.   The good burghers of Carnoustie certainly have to keep their wits about them as the Galloping Major charges along the High Street on his super de luxe streamlined buggie. All members of the club will wish to thank John for all he has done and pass on their kindest regards to him and his wife.

The club is very fortunate that Walter Ruark has agreed to take over the duties of secretary.
