The Seniors played their final match of the season on 17th September against St Andrews New Club at Carnoustie.
Last year, the St Andrews club had donated a miniature version of the Claret Jug to be presented to the winning team over the two games but due to adverse weather conditions the second match had to be cancelled.
So, trailing 5 - 1 from the first game held at St Andrews this year, the Dalhousie team had a difficult task to try to reverse the score and be the inaugural winners of the trophy.
As it turned out, we were defeated by 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 points on the day which meant an overall victory to New Club by 8 1/2 to 3 1/2.
Unfortunately, we found it difficult to get 12 members to play in this home tie and it resulted in one of our players (Sandy Fairweather) having to go out with no partner against the St Andrews pairing.
The day itself was very enjoyable and the New Club members were excellent company. They were extremely complimentary about the condition of the Championship Course. We did get a 15 minute period of rain which meant waterproofs and umbrellas but that passed and the sun eventually returned.
