As you will be aware the Commonwealth Games are taking place in Scotland and the Shooting Events are taking place at Barry Buddon near Carnoustie. The Carnoustie Golf Hotel is being used as a satellite village for competitors and officials. Given the fact that guns are involved there will be tight security in and around the Hotel for about 3 weeks. The use of the Hotel will be limited to those staying there.
This means that any food or light refreshments before/after golf will be from one of the Golf Clubs across the road from the golf courses.
The Police and Games Officials have placed parking restrictions around the area and this may your usual parking arrangements. The details are as follows:-
Hotel and Golfers Car park-will be closed from 11th July to 2nd August inclusive. There will however be additional parking opened up on the large grassed area immediately beside the Golfers car park. This car parking area is not used a lot by visiting golfers so there shouldn’t be any issues there
Black Slab Car Park (main golfers car park leading to the Golf Centre for check in)-no parking during the period 25th to 29th July (inclusive) when the shooting event is taking place.
Burnside Car Park-will only be available to pass holders during the period 25th to 29th July (inclusive). Carnoustie Golf Links are creating passes for any season ticket holder who wishes to use the car park during this period. Passes will be available from the Burnside Starter of the Links Office from no later than 1st July
Practice Ground-there will be no access via the Barry Road crossing and access via the cycle path ie alongside the 1st 2nd and 3rd Burnside holes will be available to pass holders only during the period 25th to 29th July (incl)
