There was a fine turnout of 24 golfers for this year’s Kennedy Cup competition for Senior golfers at Edzell Golf Club. The course was in excellent condition, although the weather (in keeping with most of this summer!) was wet and cool. Because of the conditions, scoring was not as good as in previous years, but even so, Stuart Braid managed to win with a fine score of 33 points. David Ashford won the Reg Neish Trophy for finishing second, two points back and Norman Howie won the Tanner Trophy for best over 70, also with 31 points. In a new innovation, an over-80s award was presented to Stuart Gearty. Many thanks to Pete McColgan, the Peter Pan of the Seniors world, for his organisation of the competition. And a special thanks to Pat Robb, who is bravely fighting serious illness and was unable to attend, but sent a message of support and gifts to all the competitors. He is very much in our thoughts.
